When I was only 20, I did something bold—I bought my first home all by myself. It was scary, but it made me fall in love with real estate. For the first 10 years after college, I worked in international marketing and tourism. I traveled to different countries, met new people, saw some cool architecture and tried some amazing food. But no matter where I went, something inside me longed for the comforts of home.

When I was almost 30, I had what some people call a "one-third life crisis." I took six months off to figure out what really made me happy. And besides hanging by my parent’s pool - you know what makes me happy? Coming home to a cozy couch where I can relax surrounded by 26 fluffy throw pillows. And, basically all things real estate!

When I started working in real estate, it felt amazing to win the "Rookie of the Year" award at Royal LePage Foothills in my very first year. I was so proud and excited, thinking, "Why doesn't everyone do real estate?" But then, things got a little tricky in the market. I had to learn a bunch of new stuff along the way.

I kept on growing my real estate holdings. Built a legal basement suite, flipped a few properties and inevitably moved up into a luxury home. After my marriage ended, I had to begin anew. I had to take a step back, think about who I am, and plan a new path. It's been tough, but I've learned a lot about myself and how strong I can be. And even though everything changed, my passion for real estate hasn't faded one bit.

Searching for a new home, whether it’s a stepping stone or the one you hope to keep forever, gets me really excited about real estate. I know a bunch about buying and selling houses, so I can guide you through it all. Let’s talk about show suites for a minute. If you’ve got your eyes on a new build, and feel like browsing around a show suite… HOLD IT! Did you know that if you don’t have REALTOR® representation the first time you set foot on that site, you may not be allowed to include me as part of the process after that? Basically, if I don’t “introduce” you to the builder, you may lose the right to future REALTOR® representation completely. Yikes is right.

Now, if you’re working with a builder sales rep on a new construction, don’t get me wrong; they will give you quality information regarding development specifications, financing options, upgrades and sales. However, while REALTORS® are contractually obligated to represent the buyer (you), on site sales reps are hired by, and contractually obligated to represent the seller (not you). Think of it as showing up to court without a lawyer, and then asking your opponent’s lawyer for legal advice.…Ok, maybe it’s not that serious. But you know what I mean!

So, as shiny, manicured and tempting as they are, remember to give me a shout before succumbing to the enticing lure of the show home! Plus, then we can grab Starbucks afterwards and chat about it.
